Threads On My Mind

I’m always on the lookout for the next 'thing,' whether it’s a new label, a song, or even just a great cup of coffee.

I’d like to think the way I dress isn’t just about the style I gravitate toward, but is shaped by everything I do.

My partner’s family is Scottish, and one phrase I’ve picked up from them that I love is ‘nippin ma heid,’ used when someone is nagging or pushing you to do something.

I like to think the sartorial side of my brain is constantly nippin ma heid, and the only way to quiet it is by writing this blog, making videos, and sharing everything that’s on my mind. With that in mind, here’s a list of what’s currently inspiring me.

A gift from St. Johns!

It’s important to look good, but smelling good is important too.

St. Johns Fragrance company, based out of   St Thomas in the U.S.V.I (United States Virgin Islands), very kindly recently sent me a bottle of their Madras Fragrance to try out.

The scent was crafted in collaboration with J.Press, aiming to capture the charm of Madras fabric—a cloth deeply tied to menswear and renowned worldwide.

Receiving an unfamiliar fragrance can sometimes feel daunting, but this one immediately hit all the right notes for me—Mandarin Orange, Lemon, Basil, and Black Pepper.

The fragrance comes in a beautiful hand-woven Fishpot Weave® bottle, which perfectly embodies the essence of the Caribbean. It’s a stunning tribute to local craftsmanship and reflects the brand's deep roots in island culture.

For over 75 years, St. Johns has been known for its iconic Bay Rum® scent, originally created by Captain John Webb, a U.S. Navy officer stationed in the Caribbean during World War II.
